5 Common Mistakes People Make When Recording a Podcast

Most first episodes fail for simple reasons. The ideas are fine. The room, the plan, or the follow-through is not. Here are five mistakes we see often — and how to avoid them.

1. Treating sound as an afterthought

Viewers forgive average lighting faster than they forgive echo, fan noise, or a laptop microphone. Record in a quiet, treated room and keep the mic close. If the audio is clean, people stay.

2. Starting without a short outline

A loose conversation can still have structure: a hook, three points, and a close. Write five bullets before you sit down. Guests feel more confident, and editing takes less time.

3. Recording in a room that works against you

Tiled floors, open windows, and traffic outside will sit in every take. A dedicated studio removes that fight so you can focus on the talk, not the next siren.

4. Skipping video when the show needs a face

Audio-only still works. But clips sell the episode on Facebook, YouTube, and LinkedIn. A video podcast or talking-head setup gives you both the long episode and the short posts.

5. Leaving files unorganized after the session

If nobody owns the export, captions, and upload date, the episode stalls. Agree how files will be delivered — Drive, Dropbox, or a hard drive — and download them within a few days.

A booked studio slot plus a simple checklist beats expensive equipment in a noisy office. When you are ready, Podify can host the recording in Gulshan 1 and edit the episode as a separate service.
